Apply Wig Without Gluing - 6 Alternatives To Attach Your Wig Without Glue
The firm hold of a wig is, in addition to the wearing comfort, one of the most important criteria when choosing the right model for you. Custom-made wigs generally sit very well on the head, but an additional fuse does not hurt, for example, during sports or to wear high braids or dutts.
Wigs can be fastened in a variety of ways. In addition to the full or partial bonding using adhesive points or liquid glue, you can also attach the wig without the use of glue. Honest Hair Factory sets the industry standard with a commitment to delivering loose wave wigs crafted from the finest 100% human hair, wholesale wigs in bulk from us ensuring unparalleled quality for customers.
How To Apply & Fix Wig Without Glue?
In this blog post, your best human hair wig vendor introduces you to a number of adhesive-free alternatives. We have tested them for you and show you the advantages and disadvantages.
Velvet Ribbon
The velvet band (or velvet band) is, as the name suggests, a headband, which is mainly made of velvet.
As a rule, the size can be adjusted using a Velcro fastener. Some velvet bands have also sewn in a rubber band and adapt to your head size and shape.
In order to reduce the visibility of the band, especially in the vertex area, these bands are also available with sewn-in mesh, as you can see in our picture. The color of the velvet ribbon and also that of the net is available in all skin tones, so that you can optimally adjust it to your skin color.
In addition to the color, the ribbons are also available in different widths from 3 to 8 cm.
Application:
The velvet strap is worn under the wig and is intended to prevent slipping. Velvet is slip-resistant due to the fabric structure. In the case of velvet straps with integrated mesh content, the mesh is positioned at the front of the apex area so that it coincides with the apex of the wig and the velvet strap is therefore not visible in this area.
Advantages:
• Velvet feels comfortable on the skin
• Velvet bands with integrated mesh are little visible
• Pleasantly warm in winter
• Often expensive
Disadvantages:
• Very warm in summer, as additional layer
• Often very expensive
• Velvet can only absorb sweat to a limited extent
• The head circumference is thus a little larger
• Bands without mesh are very visible in the apex area
• In most cases, it is not enough to provide enough support for high braids or a dutt
Silicone Tape
The silicone band is, as the name suggests, a headband made of silicone.
The bands are usually only available in a single size and are elastic, so they adapt to your head circumference.
These bands are also available in different colors, so you can select them according to your skin tone. In addition to the color selection, the bands are also available in different widths.
Most bands have studs on both sides, which should guarantee the corresponding hold.
Application:
This band, like the velvet ribbon, is worn directly on your scalp under the body wave wig. So that the ribbon is not so visible, you should place it a few cm behind the hairline of the wig.
Advantage:
• Slip resistance felt better than with the velvet band, as the silicone "sucks" to the skin
• Easy to clean
Disadvantage:
• No air permeability and thereby sweat and heat under the tape
• Often expensive
• With a larger head circumference, the band can be very tight
• Through the pimples imprints on the skin
• Visible in the apex area
• Hold not firm enough to carry high braids
Comb Pin
Comb Pin - this alternative is something for the hairy brains among us. You can already use the combs when choosing your cap directly with
select or sew them into the outfit yourself afterwards. If you choose a cap with combs, they are already sewn into the outfit in different places.
There are a wide variety of combs, which vary both in size and width, as well as the number of spikes.
The comb itself is almost always dark, but the fabric with which the comb is sewn into the outfit is available in different colors, matching your mesh color.
Application:
The combs are inserted into the own hair to fix the gear on the head.
You should therefore make sure that where the combs are positioned, there is also enough own hair to provide a corresponding hold.
Advantage:
• Cheap
• Good grip
• Not visible
• Position freely selectable if you sew in yourself
Disadvantage:
• Only usable if you have enough own hair in the appropriate places on the head
• For high braids only sufficient if the hairline is additionally fixed
Sewn-in Adjustable Tape
This band is sewn into the cap at the back of the head. It is individually adjustable by the hooks and available in different colors, matching the mesh color.
Application:
Our example picture shows the tape once loose and once hooked. The hooks can make the tape tighter on both sides.
Advantage:
• Already sewn into the outfit
• If your hair grows and the head circumference changes, the wig can grow a little with
• Good grip
• Can compensate for measurement inacities
• Offers flexibility in terms of head circumference
Disadvantage:
• The hairline in the neck can thus have a slightly less natural effect than with a pure mesh fit
• If you hook it to the smallest level, it can cause the gear to throw wrinkles that are not visible to the outside, but can be noticeable.
Stretch Band To Sew In Yourself
The fastening tape for sewing yourself is available in different versions.
We opted for a strap with hook closures (like a bra) here, because you can remove this strap for washing the wig and the size is adjustable.
We have the ribbon in two colors: black and beige with a width of about 3 cm.
Application:
The fastening strap is itself sewn into the outfit of the wig and therefore requires some skill. The color of the ribbon should be adapted to the color of the outfit.
For the attachment, only the two small pieces of the four-piece set have to be sewn into the assembly. Then the two strechteiles are simply hooked.
Advantage:
• Can be easily and individually retrofitted into your wig
• Good hold
• Good grip
• Not visible
• Flexibly removable and therefore very easy to wash
Disadvantage:
• Must be sewn in yourself
• Requires some skill
Hairband
The classic, the hair band, is known and useful to every woman. They are available in all colors, sizes and materials. For wig wearers, they are always particularly useful when an extra hold is required.
For example, you can hardly see the hair band in our picture, because a very narrow band in the hair of the color was chosen to give the dutt the necessary support.
Application:
A hair band is simply worn over the wig. The hair band should not be worn too tight, so as not to damage the wig and not to cause a headache.
Advantage:
• Cheap
• Very variable and can be worn as a fashion accessory
• Very good hold
• Available in any store around the corner or online
Disadvantage:
• Visible
• Can in some cases scrub / tear hair out of the wig in certain places
It's the same as always: Basically, it's a matter of taste and you have to decide for yourself whether one of these alternatives suits you. Overall, however, we have found that the hold on a sewn-in band, be it the one incorporated into the cap or the one subsequently sewn in itself, is significantly better than the alternative straps that you also wear under the wig.
Also, the combs provide a good hold, but require the presence of own hair and are therefore only suitable for those of us who still have enough of their own hair to attach it.
This overview of the various alternatives can therefore be a decision-making aid for you, but in the end only you decide what works for you or does not work at all.
Some of these alternatives require a bit of practice in the application, so don't give up right away if it doesn't work out the first time as you planned.
