How To Customize The Perfect Hairline On A Lace Wig - The Tweezing Method
How to customize a lace wig with a perfect hairline? We are here to show you every single step you need to take to make your wig looks natural. And before we getting started, you should know that it’s best to use a wig that comes pre-plucked, and take it to the next level and re-customized it to adjust your needs.
First, prepare a glueless cap that come with combs and adjustable straps. when you are working with wigs, it’s a lot convenient to do it on a canvas head/foam head, any type of mannequin head that you can get a hold on would be very helpful. The next step is to remove the comb that's in the center of the cap. Removing the comb in the center will help the way to lay flat and you don't need it.
*Bleaching The Knots
When in the wig pre-customizing stage, you have to prepare your wig the right way. And one of the things you need to do is bleach the knots. what are knots, you may be wondering? They are the little dots at the base of the cap where they tie the hair. To do this, take two scoops of bleach powder and use the 30 or 40 developer. Pour it according to your liking. The mixture’s consistency should be thick, because you don't want it to sink through into the hair. The little dots that are the hair tie into this cap this is where you should use the bleach on.you can use q-tips to apply the bleach to the cap, it’s more precise and delicately applying this to the cap. If you press or use anything is too heavy, the bleach might be sinking into the hair. You don't want that to happen, it's hard to fix. Let the bleach sit on the hair for 30 to 45 minutes. Different hair or different brands’ caps give different results when it comes to bleaching the knots. The number one problem is that when you bleach the knots, they become brassy or orange-looking and that's normal when it comes to using bleach. The follow up method is go back in and take a purple shampoo to shampoo the cap only where bleached it knots. Let it sit for a good two to three minutes and then rinse. That will instantly corrected the problem.
*Tweezing
Now the knots are bleached, the wig is ready to move on to be customized the hairline. Cut off the baby hairs that came with the wig, because it will be a huge separation between the hairline and where they place the baby hairs. Plus, you need to customize the wig to your liking and recreate the hairline itself. Use the curling wand to push the hair back, then take a little bit of mousse and apply it around the hairline to make the hair a little bit tacky so when go to tweezing, it be a lot easier. The problem and reason why we re-customized is not the hairline itself, is mostly the lace at the front. It shows badly, redo the whole hairline will be a lot easier. Tweezing on dry hair will help you to get a real feel of how the hairline looks once the hair is dry. Sometimes if the hair is still wet it can look thinner than what it actually is. So you don't want to over-tweezing. Apply a little bit of coconut oil to the hair and this is the go-to product to use before flatiron any of your hair extensions or wigs. It protects the hair a whole lot. Do not make a mistake and use tweezers that are no good, you have to make sure to use a good pair of tweezers when doing this, it makes a huge difference on the outcome of the results and also how long it takes to do this. The tweezing process begin at the front of the hairline, tweezing the front and getting rid of any knots that did not bleached, these are very visible. Next, separate the hair and go back into the hairline and begin tweezing around the forehead area. Doing this makes all the difference, because sometimes when you go to tweeze only the front of the hairline and then you pull the hair back, it'll still look thick. When you tweeze the front only and don't go back a little bit further the hair in the back is giving the illusion that you did not tweeze enough. So make sure to go back into the hairline and get rid of extra hairs or the bulkiness. Tweezing every other section, tweeze a little bit in one section, skip a section, and then tweeze some more. You don't want to do too much, you don't want to create any bald spots, but you do want to make sure that you're checking your results. Brushing the hair back and checking to see exactly how much hair have tweezed. You will see the difference between the side that haven't tweezed and the side that did tweeze. Remove the extra lace looks in the front where the baby hair is. Cut around the hairline that we created earlier, don't create a straight cut, follow the hairline. Go back and recreate baby hairs to your liking and make them a little bit more natural than the ones that was on there and it’s all done!
