You wear a human hair weave and wonder how to take care of your natural hair? This article reveals the three essential points to optimize your hairstyle and ensure the health of your hair.

Daily Care - Hydrate

Covered by weaving, the hair lacks air and the blood circulation of the scalp is affected. It is, therefore, necessary to restore this balance by regularly moisturizing with a water-based product, once a day or every other day, his scalp. And you can do daily clean in two ways:

  • 1. With a moisturizing spray to apply directly to the scalp,

  • 2. Using an applicator bottle directly on the scalp following the pattern of braids. For example, if your braids are made of crowns, just follow the curve. By doing so, the product will have a better chance of penetrating directly into the roots.

The oil alone to moisturize is to be banned, to avoid clogging the pores and thus cause a pile of residues. Weaving acts as a protective barrier for hair, no need to seal the moisture with an oil. On the other hand, it will be necessary for you to leave free hair at the top of the head or on the sides if this is the case.

Weekly Clean - Wash

Fifteen days after doing your weave, you can make a shampoo. And I assure you that, if you follow my advice exactly, your weaving will come out unscathed (if however it was done in the rules of the art). So, to do this, you will need a clarifying shampoo and a fairly fluid conditioner.

Then you're going to make a little mix... In an applicator bottle containing spring water (to avoid limescale from tap water) half, add two tablespoons of shampoo and shake well. Using your fingers, untangle your weave from the tips up to the roots, then separate your hair into small sections following the direction of the seam, which you tie with fabric elastic at both ends of the lengths (at the roots and tips). Do not forget to tie also the hair left free.

Then apply your mixture only on the scalp by massaging gently, without rubbing, then rinse thoroughly keeping the head leaning back, to remove the residue. Spin your weave and, finally, apply the conditioner on the braids and weave after removing the elastics. Leave on for 15 to 30 minutes, covering the head if possible, then rinse. After wringing out your weave, you can now apply a hair oil of your choice to the scalp, braids, and weave to seal the moisture. And this will be the only time you apply the oil on your scalp and braids until your weave is removed.

Common Protect - Maintenance

You can now proceed to the total drying of your hair; everything must be dry to avoid the formation of bacteria and bad odors. Regular use of heating devices is not recommended to extend the life of your weaving. For example, you can use curlers or mats to curl your hair. To smooth them, do not forget to apply a heat-protective serum by insisting on the tips.

At night, remember to protect your weave with a satin or silk scarf, and prefer fingers rather than comb or brush, especially if your human hair weave is wavy or curly. Finally, remember to never keep your weave for more than six weeks, your hair will thank you for that!
