curtain-bangs-on-curly-hair.jpgA lot of times you get your lace wigs, the first thing you want to do is wear them, you think about the application, but you need to also think about the maintenance of the hair. So this will be a full routine on how to hydrate your wigs. A full deep conditioning routine on the first thing to do before applying on lace wigs. This routine can be done for straight, wavy, curly, or other silky texture hair that you have, so the hair will be soft and nice and hydrated.

1. Bleaching The Lace Front

When you first receive a new wig, we highly recommend deep condition your wigs before wearing them. And bleaching the lace net before hydrating the wig. So for bleaching, use 20 developers and some bleach powder. After the bleach is done, it is time to hydrate. Using any kind of moist conditioner and hair extension treatments, there are several variations of conditioner on the market. And please remember do not shampoo your wigs when you get them straight out the box, you want to deep condition them.

2. Put On Conditioner

First, mixing the hair conditioner and hair extension treatments, the mixture is a creamy consistency and these two combined are going to hydrate the wig. Make sure that your wig is wet before you apply this conditioner, then taking the condition of the mixture and applying all over the hair, starting at the roots and working it down. Take the conditioner and put it on the knots of the wig also, that way if you have leash the knots that area can get some moisture too. Make sure you focus on areas of the wig where you know you will sweat the most, like the nape area. Sweat is very drying, it can cause the nape areas to bunch up sometimes from all the sweat. So make sure to saturate the entire wig with conditioner. Then take a brush and brush through. The first time that you comb or brush through your wig, you will notice a little bit more shedding, because the wig is freshly made. If it's never been worn, that's normally what happens.

3. The Deep Treatment

Now it's time to deep treat the wig. To do this, you need to use a heating pouch or thermal pouch. Use it to heat the wig and let it sit in for about 15 to 20 minutes. Then you can de-condition your wig overnight, which is even better if you don't have something like the heating pouch. Take the wig and put it into a plastic bag and then put it inside of the thermal pouch. The thermal pouch is going to heat the wig and get that conditioner to hydrate that hair and moisturize it well. let it sit for about 30 minutes. When using the conditioner, it does recommend to let the conditioner sit for 15 or 20 minutes if you're not using heat, so this is something that you would do as a treatment more so than just a regular rinse-out conditioner.

4. Air Drying

We do not recommend low drying your wigs, we recommend air drying the wig. You can find a foam head and put your wig on it, and let your wigs air dry. And put on the curls leave-in conditioner products all over the curls, making sure to get every inch of curls. And then apply some light hair mist serum after brushing out the conditioner. Just spray the hair down so that oil spray concealing that moisture. And if you’re doing a straight hair wig, use some silk infusion.

5. After Care

The last thing you need to do is scrunch up the curls, squeeze out the extra water, and let your wig air dry overnight if you need to. Because this will help to lock in the most moisture in your wig. It’s going to be nice and hydrated. After the hydrating process is done, the next time you wash your wig, you could use some shampoo to break up all the product build-up that you may have used and then deep condition the hair all over again. Each time that you wash your hair with shampoo, make sure you are following it with a deep conditioner.
