2. Prepare Some Tools

Surely, you need to prepare some small tools to dread the hair weaves by yourself. You need:

  • A Clip for clamping and fix hair bundles

  • Some rubber bands if you're dealing with loose hair

  • Fine comb for dreading hair

3. Prepare Hair Strands For Dreadlock

Divide the hair strands into small strands according to the appropriate ratio (suitable for the density of dirty braids), then put a little rubber band at the top of each strand (make sure it is tight and not easy to loosen).

4. Fix Hair Strand

Start by using the clip to clamp and maintain the hair strand on a table edge stably. Clip that rubber band right to your table, grasp the other end firmly in your non-dominant hand.

5. Use Comb To Dread

Then, take your comb in your dominant hand and hold it right in the middle, don’t hold the handle or else the end of the comb because that would be too floppy when you’re making your cheeses. Hold the hair up at a 45-degree angle, and start creeping the hair from the clip and moving in small sections towards the other end. You will form small knots in the fibers, which will form the dread. Do little eases about one inch deep, the tighter the teases you make the more dense your dreadlock will be and it will have such a nice shape that can even last a really long time.

6. Smooth The Dreadlock Out

After combing the entire extension, pull it down with one hand to smooth it out, then repeat the process. Continue to crepe and smooth the extension, until it is firmly dreaded. Remember to doing little inch teases, twist the dread a little bit, and tease it again.

7. Roll Your Dreadlock

Once you feel the dread is enough, if you want these knots in there nice and tight, take it out of the clamp and start to roll. The secret behind rolling your dreadlock is heat and friction. So you should focus on the same area of the dread right on top for a while, and be able to feel in your hand at getting a little tighter. Once you feel it’s as tight as it’s going to get, move on down the dread focusing on small little sections of dread at a time as you roll.

8. Tease and Roll Until You Have A Nice Tight Dread

Clamp the dreadlock back down, go back through, and tease the dread up again because as you roll it does not start to come loose, this way we can form some more knots in there. Once you get down to the end of teasing, going to rake it out kind of smooth it down with your hands and roll, and do the whole process over again.
